🛡️ Security & Scam Prevention
At CareerSafi, we strive to keep every interaction safe, but just like anywhere else on the internet, it’s important to stay alert. Whether you’re a Client hiring a Freelancer or a Freelancer looking for work, here are the practical signs and red flags to help you steer clear of scams or shady behavior.
🧠Common Scams to Watch Out For
1. Requests to Work Outside the Platform
If someone suggests paying or communicating outside CareerSafi (via WhatsApp, PayPal, email, etc.), stop immediately. This is the #1 red flag. It breaks our terms and leaves you unprotected in case of disputes.
🚫 “Let’s take this to Telegram, and I’ll pay you directly.” — Don’t fall for it.
2. Too-Good-To-Be-True Offers
If a job or payment offer seems too easy, too quick, or overly generous, trust your gut. Scammers often lure freelancers with fake high-paying gigs and then ask for personal information or upfront payments.
3. Requests for Upfront Fees
Legit clients will never ask you to pay them first. If a user asks for:
- Payment to “secure the job”
- Training or software fees
- Payment for “registration” or onboarding
…it’s a scam. Report it immediately.
4. Fake Payment Confirmations
Some scammers pretend to have sent payment or shared doctored receipts. Always confirm payments through your CareerSafi dashboard. If it’s not showing in your balance or escrow, it doesn’t exist.
5. Rush Tactics or High Pressure
Scammers want to rush you into a bad decision. If someone says:
“You must act now or lose the job”
“Send your details ASAP”
Take a step back. Good clients respect your time and process.
